Reaction wheels

Reaction wheels are integral components in ensuring uninterrupted communication worldwide. They are momentum wheels primarily used for spacecraft attitude control, ensuring that satellites remain pointed in the correct direction.

To achieve the precise control necessary for satellites, reaction wheels require precise control of acceleration & speed, a task at which ironless motors excel. A unique attribute of reaction wheels is their constant spinning to maintain adequate rotational inertia. Given that convection cooling is not an option in space, minimizing speed-dependent losses is paramount to prevent overheating.

Reaction wheels demand motors with fast step-response, low cogging, & low speed-dependent losses, which are the main attributes of ironless motors.
